Ensure you have version 1.27 or greater of the Jabra Solemate Max firmware, visit the official Jabra Solemate Max support site [2] to download the latest version. You can switch off the default 'Solemate is connected' announcements by holding down the Volume down button when turning on the Jabra Solemate Max until you hear 'Sound prompts off'.

  1. Follow these steps to pair the Jabra Solemate Max with a Samsung Galaxy S4. On the right hand side of the speaker locate the power button, there are three settings - off, on and bluetooth. From the off position push up the power switch all the way to the top and hold it until the indicator light turns flashing blue and you hear the announcement "Go ahead and connect me, use the Bluetooth setting on your phone".
  2. After entering the home screen on the Samsung touch the Apps icon then scroll across to the icon marked Settings.
  3. Under the Network connections section ensure that the Bluetooth switch is turned to the green on position.
  4. Tap Bluetooth then choose Jabra Solemate Max from the list of Available devices to connect to the Samsung. After a short while the Jabra Solemate Max will appear in the list of Paired devices with the words 'Connected to phone audio'.
  5. The Jabra Solemate Max and the Samsung Galaxy S4 are now ready to be used to play music. Any app on the Samsung Galaxy that can play audio will play on the Jabra Solemate Max. In the future you can turn on the Jabra Solemate Max and it will automatically connect to the Samsung Galaxy S4 without needing to pair again, just turn both devices on and wait for the "Solemate is connected" announcement.
  6. As long as you do not pair the Jabra with any other devices this will continue to automatically connect to the Samsung Galaxy S4.

To connect a Samsung Galaxy S4 to the Jabra Solemate Max the correct cable to use to connect a Samsung Galaxy S4 to the Jabra Solemate Max.

  1. These instructions show you how to hook up a Samsung Galaxy S4 to the Jabra Solemate Max using a cable to play audio. First locate the headset jack on the top right of the phone.
  2. With the speaker turned off locate the line in port on the Jabra Solemate Max. This is located on the right of the speaker above the USB port.
  3. Connect the headset jack on the Samsung Galaxy S4 to the line in on the Jabra Solemate Max port using a 3.5mm stereo male to 3.5mm stereo male cable [3].
  4. All music on the Samsung Galaxy S4 will stop playing on the Samsung Galaxy S4 loudspeaker and begin playing on the Jabra Solemate Max instead until you remove the 3.5mm stereo male to 3.5mm stereo male cable.
  5. When the line in port is used the Bluetooth facility will be disabled, you'll hear a "Bluetooth off" announcement and you'll only be able to listen to audio from a Samsung Galaxy S4. The Jabra Solemate Max and the Samsung Galaxy S4 are now connected and can to be used to play audio. [AD]
