  1. The following instructions describe how to pair a Beats Pill XL with the iPad 4. First you will need to turn on the Beats Pill XL by holding the power button, hold the 'b' for 3 seconds until the button flashes. This indicates that the Beats Pill XL is in pairing mode and ready to connect to the iPad 4.
  2. From the home screen on the phone select the Settings control panel, then go to the Bluetooth menu and make sure the Bluetooth option is turned on.
  3. From the nearby devices list select the Beats Pill XL, shortly afterwards it will then say "Paired" next to the name of the device.
  4. The Beats Pill XL and the iPad 4 are now ready to be used to play music. Tapping on the AirPlay icon in any iOS application that can play audio will bring up a list of devices where you will be able to toggle between headphones, the loudspeaker and a Beats Pill XL. How to play music on a Beats Pill XL from the iPad 4 using a phone cable

  1. These instructions show you how to hook up the iPad 4 to a Beats Pill XL using a cable to play audio. First locate the headphone socket at the top right of the tablet.
  2. Turn the Beats Pill XL Bluetooth speaker around so the back is facing you ensuring the power is switched off.
  3. Access the IN port by pulling out then rotating the rubber cover to the left of the 'beats pill xl' logo. The IN port is found between the charging port and OUT ports.
  4. Connect the headphone socket on the iPad 4 to the IN on the Beats Pill XL port using a 3.5mm stereo male to 3.5mm stereo male cable [3].
  5. From now on any audio from the iPad will stop playing on the iPad speaker and play on a Beats Pill XL instead.
  6. Switch on the speaker and you will hear music playing from the iPad 4 to the Beats Pill XL. You can now play audio on a Beats Pill XL from the iPad 4.
